AI, like ChatGPT, is also transforming fraud investigations. Sometimes AI already knows more than Google and Twitter. As is the case with Cliq Digital, a digital entertainment company listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. It offers subscription-based digital entertainment products. Consumers are being tricked into paying for subscriptions, according to several allegations. We asked Twitter and Chat about the case.

Interesting, isn’t it? According to consumer fraud researcher @cfsa, ChatGPT knows more about Cliq Digital fraud investigations than Google. Thus, we started a respective discussion with ChatGPT. Here is the (edited) answer:

  • There have been past reports of fraudulent activities associated with Cliq Digital. In 2018, German authorities investigated Cliq Digital and several other digital content providers over allegations of deceptive marketing practices and unauthorized charges to customers’ phone bills. In 2019, Cliq Digital reached a settlement with German authorities to pay €1.25 million to settle allegations of deceptive advertising practices. The company also agreed to implement measures to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws and prevent unauthorized subscriptions.
  • In addition to the investigation by German authorities in 2018, there have been other reports of fraudulent activities associated with the company. For example, in 2019, a report by the Dutch news platform Kassa alleged that Cliq Digital and other digital content providers had used misleading advertising to trick consumers into subscribing to digital content services without their knowledge or consent. The investigation alleged that Cliq Digital and other companies used misleading advertising to trick consumers into subscribing to digital content services without their knowledge or consent. The charges were added to customers’ phone bills, leading to unauthorized charges and inflated bills.

Cliq Digital denied wrongdoing and stated that it had complied with all relevant laws and regulations. In a statement, the company said it had implemented measures to prevent unauthorized subscriptions and had refunded affected customers.
