Israeli Gal Barak, as principal of the E&G Bulgaria cybercrime organization, was sentenced in Vienna in September 2020 to several years in prison and more than €4 million in restitution. He was released on parole in the fall of 2021 and reportedly returned to Israel by private jet. There he established the Vantage Fund for convicted cybercriminals. His lieutenant Maor Sioni recently got married in Israel. Gal Barak, Itzik Gellet, and the E&G Bulgaria gang were invited and pictured.
Of course, we congratulate Maor Sioni on his wedding. Privately, he will probably be nice when he is not scamming consumers over the Internet. He was part of the Israeli leadership team of the Bulgarian-based cybercrime organization E&G Bulgaria of Gal Barak and his wife Marina Barak (formerly Marina Andreeva).
However, some gang members may have been absent from the wedding. His lieutenant, Jacki Fitelzon, was sentenced to 82 months in prison in Germany in January 2022. He has requested to be able to spend part of his sentence in a sanatorium in Israel to treat his alcohol and drug addiction.
Marina Barak, Maor Sioni, Itzik Gellet, and the other gang members are currently prosecuted in Germany. If and when there will be an indictment is currently unknown.
German prosecutors also want to indict Gal Barak. The case is currently before the European Court of Justice, which must decide whether the indictment is admissible.
