Daily News reports that Vyacheslav Taran, a high-profile crypto tycoon, has died in mysterious circumstances. The 53-year-old Russian billionaire was killed when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed near Monaco. Since the crash happened in good, clear weather – and after another passenger reportedly canceled last minute – conspiracy theories are circulating. Allegedly, Taran was connected to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service and had laundered Russian funds.
Vyacheslav Taran co-founded the trading and investment platform Libertex and the foreign exchange trading group Forex Club.
Taran is just the latest crypto-focused entrepreneur to die mysteriously in recent weeks. Last week, Tiantian Kullander, the founder of Hong Kong-based digital asset company Amber Group died suddenly in his sleep. The 30-year-old had built the company into a $3 billion fintech unicorn. In October, MakerDAO developer and crypto millionaire Nikolai Mushegian drowned in Puerto Rico after tweeting that he feared the CIA and Mossad would murder him. Allegedly, he suffered from various mental health problems.
