Urgent Attention: Fake BaFin Emails Promise Fund Recovery From Crypto Exchange Binance

Spread financial intelligence

Currently, German consumers are receiving fake emails from the German regulator BaFin in which unknown persons offer their help to get back frozen funds. Specifically, these scammers claim to want to help consumers verify their allegedly frozen accounts on the unlicensed online trading platform Binance. Of course, however, the potential victims must first make an initial payment. To contact them, they use the email address bafin@ok.de. Stay far, far away!

The fake BaFin emails claim that the data of the affected individuals have been misused, and several accounts have been opened under their names on non-licensed online trading platforms. Fraudsters had already tried to withdraw money from these accounts.

BaFin warns that it does not send out such emails and does not contact customers of financial service providers by email.
