Based on our report on the bogus law firm Roshental Law and Eternity Law respectively, we received a tip from a whistleblower that Swiss LegalWeb AG (www.legalwebag.ch), would also a scam. In a first OSINT analysis, we found out that until a few months ago the Sablegal fund recovery scam was active, whereby LegalWeb AG was falsely stated as the operator. Allegedly, the company credentials would have been hijacked by the Sablegal scammers. A new website under the domain www.legalwebag.ch is presented as the “real” internet presence of this company. Confusing, is it not? We would like to learn more!
The Swiss Company
The company LegalWeb AG was registered in Switzerland in 1993 and according to the Swiss Companies Register is located at Streulistrasse 14 in 8032 Zurich. Currently, the only director registered is Erwin Schuler. The names Adrian Wild and Lawrence Dunn are also associated with the company. The purpose of the company is stated:
The purpose of the company is to provide marketing services as well as legal and consulting services in Switzerland and abroad. In particular, it specializes in the cross-sectional discipline of Internet and online law as well as subareas of digital forensics.
Statutory purpose of LegalWeb
Apparently not a law firm
On its new website www.legalwebag.ch, the company brags that it would be a law firm with 23 lawyers it has completed more than 37,000 court appointments for more than 35,000 happy clients and won 96% of all cases. However, there is no information about the allegedly existing attorneys.
Typically, reputable law firms present their partners and attorneys on the website. LegalWeb AG is also unlikely to have social media accounts. This is also very unusual for a law firm that allegedly focuses on online fraud.
From the information available to FinTelegram, LegalWeb AG is not a registered law firm and the respective claims on the website are false..
LegalWeb and Sablegal scam
On the new LegalWeb website, a statement is provided that they would not have had anything to do with the Sablegal fund recovery scam which was active between 2014 and 2020. The new website has been only be online for a few weeks. At this point the question comes up, which website was operated by LegalWeb AG before this “new” website. We haven’t found any which is strange given that the company claims to be focused on Internet law and online fraud and that it has been around already for 27 years.
On Trustpilot, in an unopposed review about Sablegal, it is claimed that Sablegal and LegalWeb are the very same scams only in different clothes (domains).
In a support request to Google in April 2020, Adrian Wild claims to be the legitimate owner of LegalWeb AG. Allegedly, the Sablegal scammers would have hijacked the company credentials for their scam activities. In his request to Google, Wild wanted to have the negative reviews for LegalWeb AG deleted from Google Maps. In fact, according to the Swiss companies register, one Adrian Wild served as president of LegalWeb AG until October 2019.
Preliminary conclusion
There are indications that the Sablegal fund recovery scam and LegalWeb AG were connected. For six years, the company has not complained that its company credentials (logo and address) were misused by third parties. It was only when the number of negative reviews and complaints on the internet increased in early 2020 that LegalWeb AG started talking about a hijacking. The names Erwin Schuler and Adrian Wild also appear in connection with the Sablegal scam.
The company claims to be a law firm with 23 lawyers. We have not found any registration as a law firm, nor have we found any lawyers working for or with the company. No names are given on the website either and there are no social media contacts. This is rather strange for a company allegedly specialized in internet law and online fraud.
We therefore recommend at this point to be very careful with LegalWeb AG for the time being.
We would like to know more and would appreciate if you would share your experience with LegalWeb with our FinTelegram Research Team.
